    Two series of novel compounds designed as hybrids of 1-arylnaphthalene lignans with dihydroisoquinolines or isoquinolines were synthesized and evaluated for their cytotoxicities on human tumor cell lines, such as A549, Hela, PC-3 and KB. Some of the synthetic compounds exhibited their IC50 values on selected cell lines at μmol/L scale.

    A novel series of pyrido[1,2-e]purin-4(3H)-one derivatives containing polar substituents on 5'-position were designed and prepared as potential PDE5 inhibitors. This paper reports the synthetic routes, 1H-NMR data, and the PDE5 inhibitory activities of the target compounds. The polar piperazinyl group contained (on 5'-position) compound, 3B2, showed the highest activity among the tested derivatives but less potency than sildenafil 1.

    Anisodine was synthesized from 3α-hydroxy-6β-acetyltropine in 11 steps. Laevorotary isomer of anisodine was prepared from the asymmetric dihydroxylation of compound 10 via the osmium catalyzed process employing p-chlorobenzoyl dihydroquinidine as the chiral ligands.

    A series of novel fluorine-containing acrylates 6a-6g were synthesized via the condensation of ethyl cyanoacetate and trifluoroacetic anhydride, followed by chloridization and the coupling reaction with amines. These new compounds exhibited some biological activity as preliminary bioassay indicated. A plausible reaction mechanism was outlined and discussed.

    Five new cephalosporin compounds were designed and synthesized, and the antibacterial activities were evaluated by the standard serial 2-fold agar dilution method in vitro.The results showed that the activities of the compounds Ⅰa and Ⅰb against ESBL E. coli and K.pneumoniae are comparable to those of Cefepime.

    6/3-(4-Chlorophenyl)-s-triazolo[3, 4-b] [1, 3, 4]thiadiazoles (2a-e) and (5a-e) were synthesized respectively by intermolecular cyclization of 5-aryl/4-chlorophenyl-4-amino-3-mercapto-1, 2, 4-triazoles (1a-e) and (4) with 4-chlorobenzoic acid/aryl acids, which were condensed with piperazine under phase transfer catalyst TBAB to yield the corresponding free bases of monopiperazine derivatives and followed to form water-soluble salts (3a-e) and (6a-e)with hydrochloric acid in good yields. The in vitro biological results showed that piperazine group conjugated with the above fused heterocycles played an important role in antibacterial activity. The structures of novel compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, MS and elemental analysis.

    The synthesis of optically active (R)-and (S)-2-trimethylsilyl-2-hydroxyl propionitrile by enantioselective transcyanation of acetyltrimethylsilane with acetone cyanohydrin was successfully carried out using defatted plum, loquat, peach, almond or apple seed meals as (R)-oxynitrilase source and using Manihot esculenta leaves as (S)-oxynitrilase source in a biphasic system with good conversion and high enantiomeric excess. Comparative study demonstrated that silicon atom in substrate showed great effect on the reaction and due to the unique characteristics of silicon atom, both the substrate conversion and the product e.e. of the transcyanation of acetyltrimethylsilane were much higher than those of its carbon counterpart 3,3-dimethyl-2-butanone for all examined oxynitrilases.

    Two novel monophosphoramidites were synthesized through a five-step transformation from commercially available L-proline. In the Ph-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of α-dehydroamino acid derivatives, ligand (Sc,Ra)-1b showed good enantioselectivity and up to 91% e.e. was obtained.

    A novel aromatic diamine, 1, 2-dihydro-2-(4-aminophenyl)-4-[3-methoxy-4-(4-amino-phenoxy)]-2, 3-phthalazin-1-one (OO-DA) containing aza heterocyclic structure was synthesized from the bisphenol-like monomer in two steps and used for preparing new aromatic polyamides with high inherent viscosity of 0.89-1.03 dL·g-1. The structures of diamine and polymers obtained were confirmed by MS, FT-IR, WAXD and 1H-NMR. The synthesized polymers exhibited high glass transition temperature in the range of 281-307℃ and good solubility in polar solvents.

    Solvent-free reactions of 1, 3-cyclohexanedione, 5, 5-dimethyl-1, 3-cyclohexanedione,2,4-pentanedilne and ethyl C60 in the presence of Mn(OAc)3·2H2O and ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) under the high-speed vibration milling conditions afforded dihydrofuran-fused C60 derivatives. CAN is the better oxidant than Mn(OAc)3·2H2O in these mechanochemical reactions.

    Tryptophan(Trp)residues in pullulanase have been chemically modified with N-bromossuccinimide(NBS). The results of ultraviolet spectra indicated that there are 18 Trp residues in pullulanase and nine of them are located on the surface of the enzyme. Three of these Trp residues are none-essential residues which showed the fastest reaction speed by Zhou's plot. Two of the seven relative faster reacting residues are essential for the activity of the enzyme. The other eight are none-reactive residues with lowest reaction speed.

    A new diarylheptanoid glycoside, 1,7-bis-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-5-hydroxyheptane-3-O-β-D-xylopyranoside (1), together with nine known diarylheptanoids (2-10) were isolated from the fresh bark of Alnus japonica which is a species of the genus Alnus species, growing throughout Korea.

    A novel protein was isolated and characterized in selenium-rich silkworm pupas. The peptide mass fingerprint of the protein was found to be new. Partial amino acid sequencing also confirmed to be a new protein. The novel protein had a molecular mass of about 80 kDa in the SDS-PAGE.

    A carbon/PVC-COOH/ferrocene composite electrode used for the determination of glucose has been prepared. The ferrocene acted as mediator was incorporated into the PVC-COOH polymer and the leakage could be prevented. The presence of carboxyl groups on the electrode surface allowed immobilizing enzyme via EDC and NHS. The ratio of PVC-COOH to graphite powder (w/w) has been studied. Amperometric determination of glucose has been performed at potential of 0.30 V vs SCE. The response time was <15 s. The linear response range was of 0.1-20 mmol/L with a detection limit of 48 μmol/L.

    A new property of conjugated polymer poly(furancarbinol-co-phenol)(PFP) was studied.The target copolymer was used as a catalyst after proper heating treatment. And dye methylene blue (MB) could be fully degraded and largely mineralized on PFP, under natural light or even in dark, in a few minutes. Furthermore, the catalytic activity could be preserved after several runs and the catalyst was readily separated. The effect of calcination temperature was also observed.

    A laser photolysis/transient absorption technique has been employed to investigate the photolysis kinetics of aqueous CS2-HONO solutions at 355 nm. Spectral analysis shows that CS2OH will react with HONO to form CS2OH-HONO. Temperature dependent rate coefficients for the reaction are reported for the first time. The following Arrhenius expressions adequately summarize the kinetic data obtained over the temperature range 273-313 K (units are L·mol-1·s-1):ln k=(31.6±0.6)-{(4.1±0.2)×103/T}, and the activation energy in unit of kJ·mol-1 is 32.47with the temperature accuracy 0.2 K.

    Molecular dynamics were used to investigate the interaction between norfloxacin and DNA duplex. The results showed that norfloxacin was situated in the minor groove of DNA,binding to the TCGA region of d[ATATCGATAT]2. Specific hydrogen bonds were formed between norfloxacin and guanine base of DNA during the 2 ns MD, which may be the reason for the preferentiality of quinolone antibacterial towards the guanine base of DNA duplex.

    The photochromism of a 36-armed liquid crystalline dendrimer D6 was briefly described in this paper. The molar absorption coefficient, photoisomerization and photo back-isomerization of D6 in solution were investigated by UV/Vis absorption spectra. The results indicate that the photochromism and photo back-isomerization of D6 in chloroform (CHCl3) and tetrahydrofuran (THF) solutions are in accordance with the first order kinetics. The photochromism rate constants of D6 are 10-1 s-1, it is 107 times larger than that of side-chain liquid crystalline polymers containing the same azobenzene moieties.

    New kinds of solid-solid phase change materials have been prepared in our laboratory.In these materials, the rigid polymer chlorinated polypropylene is taken as skeletons and the flexible polymer polyethylene glycol 6000 and polyethylene glycol 10000 are taken as functional chains. Results show that chlorinated polypropylene grafted by polyethylene glycol 10000 has greater enthalpy than chlorinated polypropylene grafted by polyethylene glycol 6000.

    Peroxide-cured high-temperature vulcanized (HTV) silicone rubber was prepared by using allyl-capped carbosilane dendrimers, in which the core molecule is Si(CH2CH=CH2)4, as the cross-linker. It showed that this kind of allyl-capped carbosilane dendrimer improved the mechanical properties of silicone rubber.

    Early transition metal catalysts[N,N]MCln, in which[N,N] is N-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxaldimine (C18H22N2, NN-1), N-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-6-methylpyridine-2-carboxaldimine (C19H24N2, NN-2), N-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)pyridine-2-carboxaldimine (C15H16N2,NN-3), M is Ti, Zr and V, and n is 3 or 4, e.g.[NN-1]TiCl4 1a,[NN-1]ZrCl4 1b,[NN-1]VCl3 1c,[NN-2]TiCl4 2a,[NN-2]ZrCl4 2b,[NN-2]VCl3 2c,[NN-3]TiCl4 3a have been investigated to catalyze ethylene polymerization in the presence of methylaluminoxane (MAO). It was noteworthy that polyethylene characteristic of high molecular weight and wide or bimodal molecular weight distribution was formed with moderate to high activities.

    The preparation of palladium complex from PdCl2·2H2O and earbosilane dendrimers with peripheral aminopropyl groups was described. The compound obtained was characterized by IR, 1H NMR, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometric (ICP-AES) spectroscopy respectively. The metal complex was employed as catalyst in hydrogenation of organic compounds. The high activity of the complex was probably due to the formation of the eoordinatively unsaturated palladium.

    The effect of the precursor composition of fused iron catalyst on the performance of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis was investigated. XRD, BET and CO2 adsorption experiments were carried out to provide better insight into the relationship therein. The results showed that the selectivity of C5+ hydrocarbon products was dependent on the mole ratio of Fe2+/Fe3+, which was represented by a hump-shaped curve. Catalysts with precursors containing Fe3O4 phase favored the magnetite spinal formation during F-T reaction, while Fe1-xO-based catalysts were more likely to favor the formation and growth of the iron carbide crystals.

    The cleavage of DNA (pBR322) by[Cu(Dime-biim)2(H2O)](ClO4)2 (Dime-biim=1, 1'-dimethyl-2, 2'-biimidazole) was investigated. The results showed that the complex could cleave DNA efficiently at pH=8.0 and 37℃.

    A new kind of adsorbent Li1+xAlxTi2-x(PO4)3 was synthesized by solid state reaction method. The influence of the content of doping aluminum on the adsorbent Li1+xAlxTi2-x(PO4)3was investigated by XRD, while the morphology of powders was observed by SEM. The investigation of the adsorption properties showed that the adsorbent can selectively adsorb sodium with the adsorption capacity of 11.76 mg/g. The optimum conditions of adsorption are at pH 10.0-11.0 in LiCl solution.

    The title compound[Cu (ADC) (2, 2'-bipy)]n (ADC=C2(COO)22-) was prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, X-ray analysis, respectively. The analysis of the crystal structure reveals that the copper atom is five-coordinated with two nitrogen atoms of 2, 2'-bipy and three oxygen atoms of different acetylenedicarboxylate dianions. ADC as bridging ligands link the Cu (Ⅱ) ions, forming coordination polymer structure.

    A nanocomposite of MPNS/(Styrene-maleic anhydride) was prepared by the polymerization of methacryloxypropyl nano SiO2 (MPNS), styrene (ST) and maleic anhydride (MA) with benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as initiator in toluene. The prepared samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Meanwhile, the nanocomposite was applied as a tanning agent in leather making and the results showed that leather treated with MPNS/SMA nanocomposite has excellent quality.

    N-2-Thiazolylacrylamide (NTA) was polymerized by a radical route to obtain the polymer in good yield. The polymer with a pendent heterocyclic group is soluble in common organic solvents, which allow to prepare the corresponding metal complexes with higher loads easily. FTIR, 1H NMR, elemental analysis, and energy-dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy (EDX)were applied to characterize these materials. The magnetic behavior of Fe(Ⅱ) and Nd(Ⅲ)complexes of poly(N-2-thiazolylacrylamide) was examined by a PPMS-9T magnetometer,exhibiting the characteristics of a soft ferromagnet. It is found that the Nd(Ⅲ) complex has an extremely high relative saturation magnetization of 35 emu/g.

    The conversion process from bicyclo[4.1.0]heptatriene (BCT) to 1,2,4,6-cycloheptatetraene (CHTE) within a molecular container was studied with AM1 method, and single point energies for all stationary points were evaluated by B3LYP and HF methods. The conversion potential barrier for the encapsulation complex became smooth when compared with that for the rearrangement in free state. The influences of the inner phase of the molecular container on the conversion process were discussed.
