    The synthesis of a cytotoxic natural ester sintenin 1 and thirty-three of its analogues 2-34 were carried out. The cytotoxicities of the synthetic compounds have been screened for human tumor cell lines such as PC-3, Hela, A549, BEL7404, CNE, and KB. The results showed that phenolic derivatives exhibited strongest cytoxicity, and the unsaturated esters were more cytotoxic than their saturated analogues.

    Polymer-supported selenovinyl bromide, easily prepared from polymer-supported selenenyl bromide with acetylene, reacts with different Grignard reagents using a step-by-step strategy to obtain (E)-1, 2-disubstituted ethenes in good yields.

    Novel hexadecyl 3-{4-[2-hydroxy-3(isopropylamino)propoxy]phenyl} propionate (HPP)was synthesized and its effect on delivery of liposomes into cultured cardiomyocytes was examined. The structure of HPP was characterized by 1H NMR, IR and MS. The amount of cardiomyocytes uptake of HPP-liposome was 3.9-fold higher than plain-liposome, and the increase was 6.2-fold when hypoxia happens. It indicated that HPP was a potential ligand for liposome targeting to ischemic myocardium.

    The title compounds, PhX2SnCH2CH2CO2Me (X=Cl, 1a; Br, 1b; I, 1c), readily underwent transesterification into the corresponding analogues, PhX2SnCH2CH2CO2R when reacted with an alcohol ROH. The structural features of these compounds were described, and the possible mechanism of the novel transesterification was suggested.

    A new product PEGylated rhaFGF was obtained by site-directed chemical modification.When compared with unmodified rhaFGF, PEGylated rhaFGF showed comparable bioactivity and superior stability at 37℃ in mouse serum and the stronger resistant potency to trypsin. This was accompanied by a substantial decreasing immunogenicity. Site-specific PEGylation of rhaFGF may increase its therapeutic potency in humans.

    A new thermomorphic catalytic system for the Baylis-Hillman coupling of aromatic aldehydes with α, β-unsaturated ketone has been described, in which the alkyl-functionalized dendritic catalyst preferred to dissolve in non-polar organic layer in the thermomorphic biphasic system, leading to easy separation of the catalyst from the polar products by changing the temperature of the system at end of the reaction.

    Six amphiphilic cholesterylated thiogalactosides 1a-f with high affinity for the asialoglycoprotein receptor have been synthesized by coupling 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-1-thio-β-Dgalactopyranose 8 with prepared cholesterol derivatives 7a-f, then by deacetylating. Preliminary results show liposomes containing those galactosides derivatives exhibited higher affinity and transfection activity in hepatoma cells HepG2 and SMMC-7721.

    First total synthesis of triprenylquinone and hydroquinones, three naturally occurring compound 1, 2 and (±) 3, have been achieved from readily available 2-bromo-5-methyl-1,4-dimethoxybenzene 4 and geranyl bromide. The triprenylquinone and hydroquinones precursor were readily prepared with use of a Julia reaction.

    Pseudorotaxane monomer (VBCB) containing cucurbitutil[6] (CB[6]) and N1-(4-vinylbenzyl)-1,4-diaminobutane dihydrochloride (VBDADC) is obtained by self-assembly of cucurbituril[6] with VBDADC in water and then polymerized using potassium persulfate (KPS) as initiator to give novel water-soluble side-chain cucurbituril[6]-based pseudopolyrotaxane (PVBCB). The chemical structures of PVBCB, VBCB and VBDADC are confirmed by 1H NMR,13C NMR spectra and elemental analysis. In VBCB, CB[6] is localized aliphatic group of the side chain and the molar ratio of CB[6] to VBDAC is 1:1.

    A novel poly(d,l-lactic acid) (PDLLA) based biomimetic polymer was synthesized by grafting maleic anhydride, butanediamine and arg-gly-asp-ser (RGDS) peptides onto the backbone of PDLLA, aiming to overcome the acidity and auto-accelerating degradation of PDLLA during degradation and to improve its biospecificity and biocompatibility. The synthetic copolymer was characterized by FTIR, 13C NMR and amino acid analyzer (AAA).

    An improved method for the large-scale preparation of 4,6-dihydroxyisophthalic acid and 2,3-dihydroxyterephthalic acid has been developed. Compared to the previous procedures,this new process requires much lower CO2 pressure of 0.3 Mpa and shorter reaction time, thus providing a convenient access for large-scale synthesis. The yield is high (93% and 65%,respectively), and the oxidation of phenol is nearly inhibited, neither decolorization nor further chromatographic purification is required.

    ree new anthraquinones, emodin-8-β-D-(2"-O-coumarate)glucoside 1, emodin-8-β-D-(6'-O-acetyl)glucoside 2 and physicon-8-β-D-(6'-O-acetyl)glucoside 3, were isolated from the roots of Polygonum cillinerve and their structures were established by spectroscopic methods. The biological activity indicated that compound 1 had the scavenging activity on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals (the IC50=8.5 μmol/L), and compound 1-3 showed no activities against HL-60 and BGC-823 cells by MTT method in vitro.

    Chemical investigation of L. tongolensis afforded two new eremophilenolides, which were identified as 3β-(2'-methylbutanoyloxy)-8βH-eremophil-7(11)-en-12, 8α (14, 6α)-diolide (1)and 8βH-eremophil-3, 7(11)-dien-12, 8α (14, 6α)-diolide (2). Their structures were established by spectroscopic methods including 2D NMR experiments.

    The magnetic nanoparticles modified with carboxyl functional group were synthesized and characterized. These nanoparticles covalently bound with hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb), were used to detect hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in immunovoltammetry. The detection limit was found to be 0.06 ng/mL, which is much higher than that of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) used in clinical analysis.

    A novel determination method of Ag+ was established. In acetic acid-sodium acetate buffer (pH 5.0) medium, Ag+ reacts with SCN- to form AgSCN in the presence of TritonX-100,which results in an increase of resonance light scattering (RLS) and giving a new RLS spectrum.The maximum RLS peak was at 585 nm. The enhancement of resonance light scattering at 585nm was proportional to the concentration of Ag+ranging from 0.0045-4.00 μg mL-1 (r=0.9991),and the detection limit was 1.37 ng mL-1 with the recovery of 97.70%~104.80%.

    This paper reported an indirect flow injection chemiluminescence (FI-CL) method for the determination of the drugs tetracycline (TC), chlortetracycline (CTC) and oxytetracycline (OTC) using Cu(Ⅱ) as a probe ion. The CL reaction was induced on-line and after injection of the sample the negative peaks appeared as a result of complexation. The method was applied to the determination of TCs in pharmaceuticals and human urine with recoveries in the range 95~105%.

    A 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride-salt aqueous two-phase system was studied on extraction of abused drugs. The effects of sorts of salts, temperature, concentration of salt and drugs on system were investigated systematically. A satisfactory extraction efficiency of 93%was obtained for papaverine while that of morphine was 65%. The extraction mechanism was primarily discussed.

    In this paper, the capacity titration technique (CT technique) was developed on basis of the RPG (ratio of potentio-charge capacity to galvano-charge capacity) method to continuously determine the solid diffusion coefficient D of the intercalary species within insertion-host materials with a small voltage region. The linear equations of D vs. q (value of ratio of the potentio-charge capacity to the galvano-charge capacity) were given in different range of q. By the CT technique,the Li+ solid diffusion coefficients D within LiMn2O4 at different voltages were determined. The results showed that the values of D varied from 3.447×10-9 cm2/s to 7.60×10-11cm2/s in the voltage range of charge from 3.3V to 4.3V as a function of voltage with "W" shape.

    A Pt-nanoparticle/carbon nanotube modified graphite electrode immobilized with cholesterol oxidase/sol-gel layer was developed for monitoring cholesterol. Using this electrode,cholesterol concentration (4.0×10-6 to 1.0×10-4 mol/L) could be determined accurately in the presence of ascorbic or uric acid, and the response time was rapid (<20 s). This biosensor has high sensitivity and selectivity.

    Chitosan-coated nylon membranes which possess a large number of reactive groups of-CH2OH and -NH2 were prepared by coupling chitosan onto the nylon membrane. Then polylysine as ligand was also immobilized onto the composite membranes by 1, 1'-carbonyl-diimidazole activation to prepare affinity membranes for bilirubin adsorption. The results showed that these membranes exhibited high binding affinity capacities for bilirubin and the adsorption isotherm fitted the Freundlich model well.

    Macroporous cross-linking chitosan layer coated on silica gel (CTS-SiO2) was prepared by phase inversion and polyethylene glycol (PEG) molecular imprinting methods. Formation of macroporous surface was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and BET analysis.The prepared bead was activated by reacting with 1,2-ethylene diglycidyl ether for introducing epoxy groups, and trypsin could be efficiently immobilized on the bead as a biospecific ligand.The bead bearing trypsin was employed to purify trypsin inhibitor (TIs) from egg white as affinity adsorbent.

    A novel organic chromophore 4, 4'-bis(9-carbazyl-trans-styryl)-biphenyl (BCSBP) has been synthesized and characterized by 1HNMR and elemental analysis. Three-photon absorption (3PA) induced upconvention fluorescence was observed and large 3PA cross section as high as 10-74 cm6 s2 was obtained for nanosecond laser pulses at 1064 nm from optical limiting measurements.

    Pulse plating of Zn-Co alloys was studied using square pulse containing reverse current.The surface morphologies of Zn-Co alloy deposits were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and an attendant energy dispersive X-ray analyzer (EDA) was used to analyze the composition of Zn-Co alloy deposits. Results obtained showed that the average current density and reverse current density amongst all the variables investigated had very strong effects on the cobalt content and surface morphologies of Zn-Co alloy deposits. It is possible to electrodeposit Zn-Co alloy coatings with a very wide cobalt content range of 10-90 wt% by modulating pulse parameters.

    Single-crystal SrCO3 nanoneedles were synthesized in reverse micelles at low temperature. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray energy dispersive spectrometer, transmission electron microscopy and selected area electronic diffraction. The influences of experimental conditions on the morphologies of the products were discussed. The growth mechanism of SrCO3 nanoneedles in reverse micelles were proposed.

    The sonocatalytic damage of bovine serum albumin (BSA) was studied in the presence of nanometer titanium dioxide (TiO2) powders by low frequency (80 kHz) ultrasound. The destruction of secondary structure and change of α-helical structure of BSA were reflected by ultraviolet (UV) and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopies.

    A new polyamide containing bithiazole moieties (PTA) was synthesized by the polycondensation of 2, 2'-diamino-4, 4'-bithiazole (DABT) and oxalyl chloride. The polymer complex was prepared from PTA and NdCl3 in DMSO. They were characterized through IR and elemental analysis. The preliminary magnetic properties of the complex PTA-Nd3+ was investigated, it was found that the material is a ferromagnet at low temperature.

    The synthesis of poly(2-methoxy-5-(2'-ethyl-hexyloxy)-l,4-phenylenevinylene) (MEHPPV) in the presence of organophilic montmorillonite (OMMT) was reported and the exfoliated MEH-PPV/OMMT nanocomposites was obtained by controlling the ratio of the monomer to the OMMT.

    The absorption spectrum of the hemoglobin (Hb) in single living intact red blood cell (RBC), exposed in 900 MHz radiofrequency electromagnetic wave (RF-EMW), was non-invasive,in situ, real-time measured by employing a highly sensitive fast multi-channel micro-spectrophotometer system. Both the absorption intensity and site of intracellular Hb were altered after RBCs were exposed in 900 MHz RF-EMW with power density at 5 mW/cm2. It was indicated that not only the concentration of Hb in living RBCs was decreased, but the molecular structure of Hb was changed by the RF-EMW action.

    1-Imino nitroxide pyrene 1 has been characterized as a H+ fluorescent switch. The effects of various interfering species, solvents and the irradiation of ultraviolet light on the fluorescence intensity of 1 are also investigated. 1 fluoresces weakly in the 85% ethanol media containing no more than 4.5×10-5 mol/L of H+ (HCl), but can produce a burst increase of about 4times in the fluorescence intensity when the concentration of H+ is increased to or over 4.9×10-5mol/L. The extremely sharp response of 1 to H+ occurs only within such a narrow concentration range. Moreover, the decrease of H+ concentration through adding sodium hydroxide causes the fluorescence quenching, suggesting that 1 may serve as a fluorescent switch for monitoring the concentration change of H+ around the point of 4.5×10-5 mol/L.

    A terylene membrane which kept pH>12 in cathode compartment was used to construct a divided cell with a carbon/polytetrafluoroethylene (C/PTFE) O2-fed cathode. The concentrations of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)and hydroxyl radical(HO)in the catholyte were 8.3mg/L and 2.15 μmol/L, respectively, which were determined by permanganate titration, electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrum and the fluorescence spectra. The efficiency of the removal of phenol achieved 100% as a result of these two kinds of stronger oxidizer.

    In this paper, a new hybrid model of amino acid substitution is developed and compared with the others in previous works. The results show that the new hybrid model can characterize the protein sequences very well by calculating Fisher weights, which can denote how much the variants contribute to the classification.
