    Unexpected dealkylation of Bischler-Napieralski cyclization of 2-(3,4-dimethoxy-2-nitro-phenyl)-N-[2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl) ethyl]-N-[(S)-1-phenyl-ethyl] acetamide 3 was reported. The electronic effect of the substituent at 2-position of C ring was also discussed.

    Alkynylstannanes 1 react with Cp2Zr(H)Cl (Cp=η5-C5H5) giving (Z)-α-stannylvinyl-zirconium complexes 2, which are trapped with NBS or iodine in THF at 0℃ to stereoselectively afford (Z)-α-bromovinylstannanes and (E)-β-iodovinylstannanes 3, respectively.

    3, 3-Dimethyl-1-(1, 2, 4-triazol)-2-butanone was treated with aqueous formaldehyde to give an additional product, and subsequent elimination by acetic anhydride yielded 4, 4-dimethyl-2-(1, 2, 4-triazol)-1-penten-3-one. Further addition with substituted amines provided a series of (1, 2, 4-triazol)-4, 4-dimethyl-3-pentanone, which were then reduced by KBH4 to obtain a series of (1, 2, 4-triazol)-4, 4-dimethyl-3-pentanol. Their structures were confirmed by 1HNMR and elemental analysis. The results of bioassay showed that the title products possess good fungicidal activities.

    An improved and high-yielding synthesis of cis-5, 8-dihydroxy-1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10-hexa-hydronaphthalene-1,8-lactone 7, an intermediate for (-)-reserpine 1 is presented. The conjugated ketone 5 was regioselectively reduced to afford lactone 7 with zinc borohydride formed in situ from KBH4 and ZnCl2 in THF.

    2, 3, 11, 12-Tetramethoxy-3b, 4, 5, 6-tetrahydro-8H-7a-aza-benzo[fg]naphthacen-7-one 7 was synthesized via N-acyliminium ion cyclization of 6-hydroxy-1-(2, 3, 6, 7-tetramethoxy-phenanthren-9-yl-methyl)-piperidin-2-one 6 catalyzed by BF3·OEt2. The stereostructure of the intermediate, 1-(2, 3, 6, 7-tetramethoxy-phenanthren-9-yl-methyl)-piperidine-2, 6-dione 5, was confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. Compound 7 showed no cytotoxicity.

    2,6-Di-O-acetyl sucrose was regioselective synthesized by using dibutyltin oxide in about 60% yield. The structure of acetyl derivative was elucidated by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, 2D-NMR and MS spectral data.

    2-Dialkylamino-4(3H)-quinazolinones 4 were rapidly synthesized by a solution-phase parallel synthetic method, which includes aza-Wittig reaction of iminophosphorane 1 with aromatic isocynate to give carbodiimide 2 and subsequent reaction of 2 with various aliphatic secondary amine in a parallel fashion.

    An efficient and convenient synthesis of 3, 5, 7-triaryl-4H-1, 2-diazepine from 2, 4, 6-triarylpyrylium salts and hydrazine in water under microwave irradiation is reported. The same reaction can be conducted using 2, 4, 6-triarylthiopyrylium salts and hydrazine.

    The reaction of aromatic carboxylic acid with oxalyl chloride gives rise to the corres-ponding acid chloride which without purification is treated with the sodium salt of mercapto-pyridine oxide in the presence of 2,2-azo-bisisobutyronitrile (AIBN), radical initiator to give a brominated aromatic compound. After etherification and oxidation, 5-iodovaniline was converted to trisubstituted benzene carboxylic acid which give 1-bromo-3-methoxy-4-propoxy-5-iodo-benzene by this new brominating process with a yield of 74%.

    Two central hydroxyl group containing Schiff base type ligands L1 and L2 as well as their metal complexes L1·2CuCl2·3H2O and L2·Zn2Cl2·C2H5OH were synthesized and characterized. The crystal and molecular structures of L2 and its zinc complex indicated well the means of coordination behavior. Both the two ligands showed good ion transport ability for alkali, alkaline earth and transition metal ions.

    The oxidation of styrene with molecular oxygen catalyzed by PdCl2+CuCl2 has been investigated in supercritical CO2 with a batch reactor. The oxidative system of styrene contains four components at the beginning and seven components during the reaction. The critical temperature, critical pressure, and critical density at different conversions are determined by using a high-pressure view cell. The effect of phase behavior on the conversion and selectivity were studied. Experimental results showed that the critical parameters of the reaction mixture at fixed initial molar ratio changed with the conversion of reactant. The conversion of styrene reached maximum near the critical density of the reaction mixture. Product selectivity also varied with density of reaction mixture and could be tuned to some degree.

    Two new nucleoside derivatives containing benzophenoxazinone moiety were synthesized. Their luminescence spectra show that they have strong near infrared fluorescence. Our study provides a new method for direct introduction of near infrared fluorescent probe to bioactive molecules.

    Terresoxazine, a novel benzoxazine derivative was isolated from the fruits of Tribulus terrestris. Its structure was determined as 7-hydroxy-3, 3a-dihydro-5H-pyrrolo-[1,2-a] [3,1] -benzoxazin-1(2H)-one, on the basis of the spectral techniques and X-ray crystallographic analysis.

    A new taxoid, 2-deacetyl-2α, 14β-dihydroxybaccatin IV (1), was isolated from the leaves and branches of Taxus chinensis together with the known compound baccatin IV (2). The structure of the new compound was elucidated by spectroscopic techniques. The detailed 13C NMR assignments of baccatin IV are reported for the first time.

    Two new phloroglucinol glycosides, lysidiciside A (1) and lysidiciside B (2), were isolated from the roots of Lysidice rhodostega Hance. Their structures were determined as 1-[(3-methylbutyryl)phloroglucinol]-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), 1-[(3-methylbutyryl)phloro-glucinol]-β-D-glucopyranosyl-5-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2) on the basis of chemical and spectral analysis.

    A new sesquiterpene-substituted benzoic acid has been isolated from the brown Alga Dictyopteris divaricata Okam.. Its structure was elucidated as 3-[(2-hydroxy-2,5,5,8a-tetra-methyldecahydro-1-naphthalenyl)methyl]-4-hydroxybenzoic acid, named dictyvaric acid on the basis of spectroscopic methods including IR, HRFABMS, 1D and 2D NMR techniques.

    Functionalized nano-PbS has been prepared and characterized. The functionalized nanoparticles have good dispersibility in water. Reaction of functionalized nano-PbS with γ-globulin (γ-IgG) results an enhanced resonance light scattering (RLS) around 385 nm. However, when the content of HAS is lower than 0.5 μg ml-1 the RLS enhancement is very weak and is nonlinear to concentration of HAS. Based on these results, a new direct quantitative determination method for γ-globulin in blood serum samples without separation is established. Under optimal conditions, the enhanced RLS intensity is in proportion to the γ-IgG concentration in the range 10-500 ng/Ml. The limit of detection is 2.75 ng/Ml. This method is proved to be very sensitive, rapid, simple and selective for detection of γ-IgG in blood serum.

    A multianalyte biosensor for the simultaneous determination of glucose and galactose was developed by immobilizing glucose oxidase (GOD) and galactose oxidase (GAO) on Nafion-modified thin film platinum disk electrodes. The dual Pt working electrodes with disk shape and the surrounding ring shaped counter electrode were fabricated by thin film technology, which were integrated onto the same microchip. The response of the designed biosensor for glucose and galactose were linear up to 6.0 mmol/L and 3.5 mmol/L with sensitivities of 0.3 (A/mmol/L and 0.12 μA/mmol/L, respectively. No cross-talking effect was observed.

    Most of the mercury and selenium exist in the insoluble fraction of dolphin liver. After the insoluble fraction was digested by alkaline protease in the presence of 1% SDS, approximately 50% of Hg and Se consisted in the supernatant and the others in the residue. Gel filtration chromatography of the hydrolysate showed that 96% of Hg and 87% of Se were combined with the high molecular weight proteins stably, which cannot be substituted by the complex reagents. Mercury and selenium in the residue were confirmed as HgSe crystal.

    Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) fiber mats containing 20 and 80 wt% H3PW12O40 were prepared by using electrospinning technique. The fiber mats were characterized by IR, XRD spectra and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The diameter of the fiber mats is ca. 400 nm.

    A novel white light emitting long-lasting phosphor Cd1-xDyxSiO3 is reported in this letter. The Dy3+ doped CdSiO3 phosphor emits white light. The phosphorescence can be seen with the naked eye in the dark clearly even after the 254 nm UV irradiation have been removed for about 30 min. In the emission spectrum of 5% Dy3+ doped CdSiO3 phosphor, there are two emission peaks of Dy3+, 580 nm (4F9/26H13/2) and 486 nm (4F9/26H15/2), as well as a broad band emission located at about 410 nm. All the three emissions form a white light with CIE chromaticity coordinates x=0.3874, y=0.3760 and the color temperature is 4000 K under 254 nm excitation. It indicated that this phosphor is a promising new luminescent material for practice application.

    Sodium deoxycholate (NaDOC) could induce 1-bromo-4-(bromoacetyl) naphthalene (BBAN) to emit strong room temperature phosphorescence (RTP). Measurements of phosphore-scence spectra, peak intensity and polarization were used to investigate the solubilization of BBAN as a function of NaDOC concentration.

    Diethyl flavon-7-yl phosphate was synthesized by modified Atheron-Todd reaction. The result of ESI shows that the phosphated flavonoids possess stronger binding affinities toward proteins such as myoglobin, insulin and lysozyme and are easier to form the non-covalent complexes with them.

    A modified chitosan adsorbent was synthesized through a simple preparation procedure, and it demonstrated good adsorption performance for selective removal of low density lipoprotein in human plasma. Phase inversion technique was employed to form chitosan beads, to which epoxy groups were then introduced by reacting with ethyleneglycol diglycidylether, and tryptophan was subsequently coupled to the epoxy-activated beads.

    A new reaction-controlled phase-transfer catalyst system was designed and synthesized. In this system, heteropolytungstate[C7H7N(CH3)3]9PW9O34 was used for catalytic epoxidation of cyclohexene with H2O2 as the oxidant. The conversion of H2O2 was 100% and the yield of cyclohexene oxide was 87.1% based on cyclohexene. Infrared spectra showed that both fresh catalyst and the recovered catalyst do have completely same absorption peak, indicating the structure of catalyst is very stability and can be recycled.

    1, 1-Di-p-methoxyphenyl-2, 2-dinitroethylene reacts with 1-benzyl-1, 4-dihydronico-tinamide (BNAH) in deaerated acetonitrile to give 1, 1-di-p-methoxyphenyl-2, 2-dinitroethane, while 1, 1-di-O-methoxyphenyl-2, 2-dinitroethylene fails to react with BNAH under the same conditions, which provides evidence for a concerted electron-hydrogen atom transfer mechanism.

    A synthetic method of porphyrins tailed with salicylic substituents is described. Reaction of bromoalkoxyphenyl porphyrin 1 with salicylic acid gave porphyrins 2~5. These new compounds were confirmed by 1H NMR, IR, UV-vis, MS and elemental analysis, and observed their interaction with bovine serum albumin (BSA) in fluorescence spectrum.

    The three-phase behavior in the quaternary system of an alkyl (C8/10-or C12/14-) polyglucoside/1-butanol/n-octane/water has been studied at 40℃ with the modified fishlike phase diagram, which is presented by us for the first time. The mass fraction of 1-butanol in the hydrophile-lipophile balanced interfacial layer, AS, the coordinates of the start point B and the end point E of the phase diagram, and the solubilities of alkyl polyglucoside and 1-butanol in n-octane phase were calculated. The solubilization of the microemulsion was also discussed.

    Thin PVA/nickel acetate composite fibres were prepared by using sol-gel processing and electrospinning technique. After calcination of the above precursor fibres, NiO nanofibres with a diameter of 50-150 nm could be successfully obtained. The fibres were characterized by SEM, FT-IR, WAXD, respectively.

    Water could be decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen over Ga-modified ZSM-5 zeolite under UV irradiation. The photocatalytic activity was elevated significantly by supporting the gallium species and was sensitive to the loading amount of gallium species on the ZSM-5 zeolites.

    Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres with clear surface and diameter close to 1 μm were synthesized by newly soap-free emulsion polymerization. The results showed that the presence of ethanol and NaCl made the increase of diameter and distribution, while the presence of toluene could avoid the problem of the increase of distribution, resulting a harvest of PMMA microspheres with a diameter close to 1 μm.

    Three new naphthaline-type chromophores end-capped with different (p-substituted amino) styryl groups on the both sides (named as BPASN, BHMASN and BMASN) have been synthesized. Under excitation of 380 nm, strong green light-emitting locating at 517 nm with the fluorescence quantum yield of 0.88 in CH2Cl2 has been obtained. In the presence of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), strong blue-emitting at 456 nm in DMF was also recorded.
