By the reaction of 1,8-diazabicyclo (5,4,0) undec-7-ene (DBU) and chloromethylated polystyrene,polymer-anchored bifunctional catalysts,PCS-DBU,are prepared and found to be effective to catalyze sequentially the cyclization of propylene oxide with carbon dioxide and the transesterification of propylene carbonate with methanol.It is found that low degree of ring substitution (DRS) of chloromethyiated polystyrene,high reaction temperature and the addition of potassium iodide can accelerate the reaction.PCS-DBU can easily be recovered after reaction by filtration and can be reused for many runs.

Terephthalaldehyde reacts with sarcosine to form azomethine ylide,which adds to C₆₀ according to a[3+2] cycloaddition process to form fullerene pyrrolidine.The same addition reaction can also be applied to other substituted benzaldehyde with para-H,NO₂,OMe,NMe₂ groups.

A new sesquiterpene polyol ester named as Celastrine B was isolated from the seed oil of Ceiastrus flagellaris.Its structure was elucidated as 1α-acetoxy-2α,9β-dicinnamoyloxy-β-dihydroagarofuran by IR,UV,MS and NMR.It is the first time that report the β-dihydroagarofuran sesquiterpene containing two cinnamates in the same molecule.

The crystal structure of β-momorcharin has been determined using molecular replacement method.The structure has been refined at 2.4A resolution giving an R-factor of 0.204,when the oligosaccharide was absent in the model,with r.m.s.deviations of 0.018A and 3.32° from ideal bond lengths and bond angles,respectively.The three-dimensional structure of β-momorcharin is similar to that of trichosanthin.

The current ligand,o-iodobenzenediazoaminobenzene-p-azobenzene (OIDAA) was synthesized for determining sensitively trace amounts of copper in metals at pH 12.The extraction with chloroform in the presence of 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline can remove other metal ions.By means of the beta-correction principle,the complex ratio of copper to OIDAA can be determined easily being 1:2 and the chelate's practical molar absorptivity at 500 nm and its instability constant at pH 12 were worked out.Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range of 0-0.20 mg/L Cu with the detection limit of 0.008 mg/L.

Multilayer L-B films of Bacteriorhodopsin (bR) in SoyaPC matrix with different weight ratios were prepared on ITO plates.The photocurrent was a function of layers,weight ratio,interlayer humidity and storage time.The corporation of soyaPC will largely affect the transmission of photocurrent by altering the membrane parameters,and the results of our experiment can be well explained by a multilayer equivalent electrical circuit model.

The stability constants of the ternary mixed ligand complex Cu (pdphen) (ATP)^2-,where pdphen is the planar ligand pyrido[3,2-f] [1,7] phenanthroline,were determined by potentiometric pH titration in water,and in 30 and 50%(v/v) aqueous dioxane solutions.It has been observed from this information that a stronger stacking interaction between pdphen and the base of ATP exists and decreases with decreasing selvent polarity,i.e.,increasing amounts of dioxane in the solvent mixturs.

The carbyne compounds[Cr(≡CC₆H₅)Br(CO)₂(Py)₂] (Py=pyridyl) (1),and[Cr(≡CC₆H₅)Br(CO)₂(bipy)](bipy=α,α'-dipyridyl) (2) react with dicobalt octacarbonyl in dichloromethane at room temperature,after chromatography on silica gel column,to give compounds[Co₃(μ₃-CC₆H₅)(CO)₉] (3),[Co₂Cr(μ₃-CC₆H₅)Br(CO)₈(Py)₂] (4),and[Co₂Cr(μ₃-CC₆H₅)Br(CO)₈(bipy)] (5).Their structures were deduced from elemental analyses,IR,¹HNMR,¹³C-{¹H}NMR,and mass spectra.

The synthesis and characterization of a new 17-membered macrocyclic Schiff base ligand 3,4:12,13-dibenzo-8-benzyl-1,8,15-triaza-5,11-dioxacycloheptadeca-1,14-diene is reported.Copper (Ⅱ), nickel (Ⅱ), iron (Ⅲ), cobalt (Ⅱ), lanthanium (Ⅲ), praseodymium (Ⅲ), neodymium (Ⅲ), samarium (Ⅲ), gadolinium (Ⅲ), and uranyl (UO²⁺₂) complexes with this ligand were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis,infrared,electronic pectra,MS,and conductivity.

In this paper,tungstogallic heteropolyanion trisubstituted with transition metal ferrum GaW₉Fe₃ was intercalated into ZnAl-NO₃ type anion clay by means of ion-exchange for the first time.XRD patterns show that the pillared derivative possesses a gallery height of 0.98nm.IR spectra exhibit that the Keggin structure of intercalated heteropolyanion is remained.The new material was found to be catalytically efficient for the esterification of phthalic anhydride with 2-ethyl hexanol.

This paper reports the two-and four-electron heteropoly blues with formula M_xH_n[PW₁₂O₄₀]·XH₂O (M=Ca,Sr,Ba) prepared for the first time.Their IR spectra,UV spectra,polarograms,TG-DTA,XPS,ESR,³¹PNMR etc.are investigated.This study indicates that the reduction process of these heteropoly blues is W^Ⅵ→W^v,the anti-ions have no great influence on properties of these heteropoly blues but exert a certain influence on their thermal stability.And the structure of the heteropoly blues has some distortion compared with their parent compounds.

The ultrafine particles of silver chloride (AgCl) were obtained by mixing two separately prepared reversed micelle systems both containing a non-ionic surfactant,cyclohexane and an aqueous solution of either silver nitrate (AgNO₃) or potassium chloride (KCl).The size distribution of spherical AgCl particles depended on the solubility behavior of aqueous electrolytes in surfactant solution.The NMR,near infrared,light-scattering,X-ray,UV spectroscopy and TEM (transmission electron microscopy) were used to examine the relationship between the size of particles and the states of solubilized water or reversed micelles.In the solubilized regions,it was found that three states of water were related to the formation of reversed and swollen micelles or W/O microemulsions.i.e,monodisperse particles were formed in reversed micelle and swollen micelle systems,whereas in W/O microemulsion system the particles became polydisperse.
