D-mannitol through oxidation of its diacetonide gave aldehyde 3 which condensed with PhTi(OiPr)₃ stereoselectively to yield 4 (2R,3R)and 4'(2R,3S)in the ratio of 9:1.The 1,2-acetonide was transformed to 2,3-acetonide and then oxidized to acid 9. Amination of 9 followed by hydrolysis gave the expected amide,3S,4R Ⅰ^* and Ⅱ^*. Their m.p. and [α] differed from those reported for the natural products whose previously proposed configurations were thus revised.

β-alanine sodium salt reacts with Csub>60 to give a water-soluble derivative A.Acidification of A yields derivative B C₆₀(NHCH₂CH₂COOH)_X(H)_X.Elemental analysis suggest x is equal to 9.¹H and ¹³C NMR spcctra are consistent with the addition of aminoacid through its amino group.These amino acid derivatives air-stable and may be used as precursors for furher functionalization.

The reaction of cis-2-chloro-4-phenyl-5, 5-dimethyl-1,3.2-dioxaphosphorinan-2-thione(1)with methoxide or phenoxide at room temperature takes place with retention of configuration.While refluxing cis-(1) and methoxide in methanol, partial isomerization of cis-thiophosphate(2) to its trans isomer occurs and an acyclic intermediate (3) is found to be involved in this process.

The diluted solution of 9-anthylmethyl dodecanoate in aqueous organic binary mixed solrents exhibits strong excimer fluorescence.Photoirradiation of this solution results to form almost exclusively the head-to-head (h-h) dimer.This is contrary to the photodimerization in organic solvents,where the major product is the head-to-tail (h-t) dimer.

A series of olefin hydroformylations over supported aqueous-phase rhodium catalyst with the substitution of CO/D₂ for CO/H₂ were carried out to study the isotope effects of deuterium.The rate of aldehyde formation in CO/D₂ was about 1.3 times faster than than in CO/H₂,indicating that the aldehyde formation shows noticeable inverse deuterium isotope effect over SAP catalyst.The results of in-situ IR study of ethylene hydroformylation suggest that the reaction rate of acyl hydrogenolysis forming aldehyde is the slowest one.It may be inferred from these results that the rate-determining step involvedin aldehyde formation is very probably a step of hydrogenation.

New oscillating reaction with the participation of a macrocyclic nickel(II)complex ion [Ni(TIM)]²⁺ as catalyst and described.This complex ion contains the ligand:2,3,9,10-tetramethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradeca-1,3,8,10-tetraene.The [Ni(TIM)]²⁺ion can undergo oxidation reaction of Ni(Ⅱ)?Ni(Ⅲ).Detailed research on the system's oscillation characters and influential factors is made and the mechanism is bridfly discussed.

Tryptophan(Trp)residues in polygalacturonase(PG)have been modifies by N-bromosuccinimide(NBS).The results indicate that there are six tryptophan residues in PG and two of them are located on the surface of the enzyme.Among the six Trp residues, one is essential for the activity of the enzyme, which may be located at the sub-strate binding site of the enzyme, while others are nonessential.The spectra of circular dichroism(CD) of PG are changed after treatment with NBS.

A new equation describing the relationship between the retention valuse of homologues and column teperature ,carbon numbers,mobile phase composition in reversed-phase lipuid chromatography,has been inferred on the basis of the basic epuation of chromatogram reten.tionvalue proposed by lr peizhang et al ⁽¹⁾Mathematical method and experiment data have proved that there is a common point of intersection for the straight lines of k'vs. T ^-1 in the homlogues when chromatogram columntermined in reversed-phase lipuid chromatography.Therefore,the intersection point equation has been putforward and examined by experimental data,and the results are satisfactory.

During the course of study ,we found that bolh pal(N-isopropylacr ylamide)(PNIP) andPNIL-Ab*(enzyme-labelledantibody) could be adhere tightly to a cellulose acelale-nitrate membrane, and that the retention of PNIP-Ab* on the membrane increased over 30-fold when compared with the unconjugated Ab*.Thus we wsed this characteristic to deuelop a nouel immunoassay method polymer enzyme linhed immunoassay mithod:homogeneous antisen-antibody reaction and heterogeneous separation process.When apptied for detection of human serum HBsAg,this immunoassay aystem can detect as little as1ng1ml of human serum HBsAg.

Thenoyltrifluoroacetone europium(TTA-Eu),as a hapten,was covalently attached to bovine serum albumin(BSA).The BSA-TTA-Eu conjugate was injected into rabbits to initiate anti-TTA-Eu sera. The sera were tested against TTA-Eu coupled to immunologically irrelative protein such as rabbit serum albumin(RSA)by an established enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).A cross-reaction test was performed to examine the specificitv of the sera to recognize TTA-Eu and TTA.The preliminary re-sults show that such sera have no detectable specificity to discriminate if an europium ion is coordinated to the TTA residue on the protein-TTA conjugate.

The graft polymerization of maleic anhydride(MA) onto preirradiated HDPE powder was studied.FTIRshowed the existence of HDPE-graft-MA.The irradiation at-mosphere and preirradiation dose have effects on the percent graft. A high degree of graft (10%) was achieved using this process.

Measurement of the Surface Photovoltage Spectra(SPS) of Mo/Bi series catalysts Bi_xPMo₁₂O_y(x=2-9,y=43-64) showed that with the increase of Bi/P molar ratio,SPS exhibits some changes characteristic of modulated surface band bendings.The phenomena were explained in terms of the basic acpacity of vacancies in the scheelite-type structure of the catalysts.

In the system Na_1.67-2xBa_x Mg_0.67Al_10.33O₁₇:EU²⁺ with x equal to 0.50,emission wavelength of Eu²⁺ is 455nm and relative brightness surpasses common blue phosphor BaMgAl₁₀O₁₇:Eu²⁺,and effective concentration of Eu²⁺ in the new phosphor is less than that of BaMgAl₁₀O₁₇:Eu²⁺.It is possible to become a new phosphor at trichrometric fluorescent powder of rare earths through further study.

Autoreduction of Pt²⁺ions during calcination of cis-Pt(NH₃)₂ Cl/Kβ was found directly by CO ad sorbed FTIR.Reoxidation of the reduced sample could decrease the extent of Pt agglomeration caused by autorduction.The unique effect of Ba²⁺ions on Pt dispersion was also studied.

The [Cp'₂Ln(thf)]⁺ cation (Cp'=MeOCH₂CH₂C₅H₄,Ln=Nd 1,Sm 2) has been synthesized b the reaction of Cp'₂LnI with KCo(CO)₄·A single-crystal X-ray diffraction xtudy shows that the heterboimetallic complex 2 exists as discrete [Cp'₂Sm(thf)]⁺ cation and Co(Co)₄^- anion without Sm-O-C-Co isocarbonyl linkage.

X-ray diffraction has been used to investigate a liquid crystalline cyclotdtrasiloxane with combination of a mesogen pendant on the siloxane ring.The change of Bragg spavings in solid state and S_A phase of the samples with different thermal treatments was detected. It is assumed that the aggregate structure of this sample agrees with bundle structure arranged in interdigitating layers,and the siloxane ring planes are parallel to the long axes of the molecules in the mesophase and crystal state.

Pure X-ray diffraction profiles have been analysed for polyamide(PA) 1010 and added BMI system by means of multipeak fitting resolution of X-ray diffraction.The methods of variance and fourth moment have been applied to determine the particle size and strain values for paracrystalline materials,and the values thus obtained have been compared.The results indicated that both variance and fourth moment of X-ray diffraction line profile yielded approximately the same values of the particle size and the strain. The particle sizes of (100) reflection have been found to decrease with increasing BMI content.On the contrary,the strain values were on the increase.
