An active and recyclable catalyst system,poly(maleic acid-co-divinyi benzene)-ruthenium complexes selectively catalyze the oxidation of styrene with dioxygen to benzaldehyde (60-70% yield) and phenyl acetaldehyde (10-30% yield).The polymer supports play an important role in the in-situ generation and stabilization of catalytically active ruthenium species,RCOORu(Ⅳ).

Enzyme catalyzed esterification in organic solvent system depends highly on conjugated salt pair at different pH.We have shown that the addition of an appropriate solid conjugated salt pair to the esterification reaction mixtures is a simple and convenient method to obtain optimal pH level conditions throughout the reaction.

The through-space and through-bond interactions of molecular orbitals in [2,2] paracy-clophane are studied by the improved MS-X.method with overlapping atomic-sphere.The calculation results show the through-space interactions are exponential flareout with increasing of the distance of two orbitals,and both through-space interactions and through-bond interactions are sizable but those two interactions oppose each other causing the net splitting to be small.Transition-state procedure was used to calculate ionization potentials,the results are in agreement with the PE-spectra.

The optimized equilibrium geometries and the adiabatie ionization potentials for some low-lying excited states of SO₃⁺ ion in C_3v and C_s symmetry were obtained with the ab initio MOSCF method using the 6-31G(S:6d) and the 6-31G basis sets.Both results of the geometries and the potentials are in agreement with the experiments.

We have investigated the dynamic process of electroxidation of Fe(CN)₆^4- at different electrode surface by using in-situ time-resolved infrared spectra.The possible intermediates produced in the electroxidation process on platinum electrode have been monitored and proposed.The effect of surface state on the time-resolved spectra of the electrode reaction has also been observed and discussed.

A fluorescence enhancement phenomenon was observed for the first time by adding yttrium ion to dysprosium-pyrocatechol-3,5-disulphonic acid(Tiron) system at pH 7-8.The excitation and emission wavelengths were 323 and 575 nm,respectively.In the presence of Y³⁺,the fluorescence intensity was increased about 15-fold and it was a linear function of the concentration of dysprosium in the range of 8.0×10^-8-9.0×10^-6mol dm^-3.The detection limit was 1.0×10¹⁰mol dm^-3.The system was used for the spectrofluorimetric determination of dysprosium with satisfactory results.The mechanism of the enhanced fluorescence was proposed.

Ni-Mo-Fe ternary alley was prepared by means of eleetrodeposition on a copper sheet.The coating exhibited high catalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction in 30 wt% KOH at 200 mA/cm³ and 70℃.After 1000 hours continuous electrolysis,the hydrogen overpotential varied from 80 mV to 120 mV.During long-time electrolysis with interruptions of several days,the coating still maintained good catalytic activity.

A stable methylene blue/Nafion modified carbon fiber microcylinder electrode is developed.The mediator (methylene blue) makes the oxidation of hemoglobin(HB) at this electrode be accelerated in the medium of weak acid,and shows significantly electrocatalytic activity.The catalytic current and the concentration of HB has a good linearity in the range of 5×10^-6~5×10^-5mol/L.The relative variation coefficient of peak current is 3.5% for 6 determinations with 6.0×10^-6mol/L HB.

The title complex was synthesized under N₂ and the crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction method.This compound crystallized in the monoclinic system (I2/a) with unit cell dimensions a=13.313(2)Å,b=10.105(2)Å,c=16.652(4)Å,β=91-43(2)°,V=2239.5(4)Å³,Z=8.The final R value is 0.087.The three bromide ions and four oxygen atoms from THF and isopropanol are coordinated to the central Nd (Ⅲ) ion to give a pentagonal bipyramid polyhedron with coordination number 7.

The concept of mean ionization potential of crystal is proposed and the values of 122 oxides are calculated.The result shows that the values of almost all superconduction oxides concentrate in a narrow range from 10.20 to 10.50eV ,while those of nonsuper-conducting oxides scatter outside this region.This characteristic provides a new criterion for the superconductivity of oxides.

The plasma oxidation desulfurization of thiophene in the liquid phase was studied.Under optimum conditions,the degree of desulfurization and selectivity of the solid sulfide formation can be achieved up to 79% and 47% respectively.
